Reiki
The word Reiki, which is pronounced Ray-Key, means Universal Energy. Eastern medicine has always worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital for the well being of life.
There are other therapies and disciplines which also work on the free flow of this energy in a person, these include Yoga, Acupuncture and Tai Chi. As a therapy, Reiki is a simple, gentle and effective way of tapping into this free flowing energy.
Reiki energy works on all levels of the mind, body and spirit.. It installs a sense of inner calm and clarity, by experiencing a deep sense of relaxation, almost like a form of meditation, Reiki can accelerate the healing process, physical and emotional, bringing balance to the emotional self and this helps to free us from restrictive mental attitudes and can bring us more in tune with our intuition. Reiki encourages and supports personal change, it can help us cope and respond more calmly to the stresses of our daily life. It also helps us to build a more resourceful state of being.
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful energy and can be used safely on all ages and levels of ability, including the new born, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, regardless of there state of health.
Reiki can enhance everyday life, help to empower and raise confidence levels and bring calmness within. This therapy is non-intrusive and can be used without fear of any side effects or overdose. It may be used with confidence alongside conventional medications or natural remedies. Reiki is now being used locally in GP surgeries, hospices, cancer support groups, self healing groups, drug rehabilitation, prisons and HIV/AIDS centres
Amanda is truly gifted. I'd never had reiki before but heard that it could do wonderful things to help the mind and body. I've had two wonderful sessions both very relaxing and afterwards felt an emotional release and felt much happier positive and energised.

What happens during a Reiki session?
A Reiki session is usually received either laying down or in the seated position, within a comfortable and relaxing environment. There is no need to remove any clothing at any point during the sessions.
Peaceful and calming music is softly played in the background, creating a aura of calmness and peace, causing you to drift off into a relaxing stillness.
The Reiki practitioner will gently place their hands on a series of non-intrusive positions on or near your body. As the positions are held, the client automatically draws in however much is needed of the life force reiki energy from the practitioner's hands. The energy is then used in the way that is most needed by the individual at that time.
What sensations are felt?
Reiki can be felt as a flow of energy through the body, warmth, mild tingling, coolness and other sensations may be experienced. Sometimes all that is felt is a sense of utter relaxation. To experience Reiki energy is to fully understand its benefits. Reiki is sensory, so to receive it is to feel it.
Reiki is deeply relaxing. It can assist with easing stress and has a remarkable calming effect.
The treatment is enhanced, so if you can rest for a while and drink plenty of water, it can help the body readjust it’s self to its enhanced energy.
Be kind to yourself and your body. Listen and be responsive to its needs. Rest if you feel tired and allow the energy to continue its work after the sessions.
The beneficial effects may be felt for several days. Constant use of Reiki, either received as a therapy or personally learnt as a system of self healing, can have a positive effect on your mind, body and spirit.
Reiki can help with personal development and spiritual progression if appropriate.
Reiki energy has many wondrous benefits and can help support you throughout your daily life.
